MESSAGE FROM OUR PRESIDENT

My name is Sinan Karaca Öztürk, and I am the president of the Marmara Region Roma Associations Federation, which was founded in 2012. As a federation, our primary goal is to promote Romani culture and advance Romani rights.

In our country, we are also called Roma, Gypsy, Cono, Mitrip, Coptic, Ole, etc., depending on the region we live in. We, the Roma, are people who struggle to survive within society through a serious struggle. In a region where everyone starts life 1-0 down, we may be starting life 5-0 down, but these circumstances have never hindered the success of the Roma. Despite all the hardships, they have achieved success, albeit in limited numbers, around the world and in our own country.

Of course, we have many challenges and difficulties; we will share and write about them with you on this platform from time to time. In this section, you will also find information about Romani history, folklore, and current issues. As Romani people and Romani volunteers, we will grow and multiply every day, and with your contributions, we will redefine ourselves in this field. With our federation, our administrators, our project team, our volunteers, and your participation, we will become a very large family. This will be a very meaningful and exciting experience for both us and the Romani volunteers.

Through our sharing and the effort we put forth, we will break down and fight against all prejudices against Roma. We will create wonderful partnerships and foster wonderful friendships.
